Growing Pains

Growing Pains

As you may have notice, I haven’t written in over 6 weeks. I simply have not had the energy or time to mentally put together another post after working all day and night in my new fledgling cleaning business. To put it bluntly, we are doubling our business in a 4-week period. That is after we doubled our business in our first 5 months. Our little baby business is growing!

Here is our growth in number format:

Number of Employee’s:

June 2018: 2 part-time employees

April 2019: 15 part-time & 2 full-time employee

Gross Revenue:

April is projected revenue from signed contracts for work to be completed

As you can see, March was our largest growth yet in our business. However, April plans to more than double our largest month in 30 days! Now, we don’t expect April’s monthly revenue to continue as we are working on a large one-time deep cleaning project that will be invoiced in April. However, our continuous revenue should be around $36,000 a month.

So, if you don’t hear from me in a while, please don’t give up. I promise to keep updates coming, they just may be more sporadic. Also, if you know of anyone who needs work in the Phoenix, AZ area, have them reach out to me. WE ARE HIRING!

To clarify, our goal for the year of 2019 was to hit $42,000 a month of reoccurring revenue. We thought this would be near impossible to hit, but wanted to challenge ourselves, so we made the goal. The goal equated to doubling our business in 12 months. At the end of April, we will have around $36,000 in reoccurring gross revenue. That is $6,000 a month away from our annual goal. We sold this revenue in the first quarter! We are hoping we can sell the last $6,000 before the end of the year. Maybe our 2019 goal was a bit too conservative?

This reminds me of when I set a goal for myself to run a marathon. I was 26 years old and thought it would be great to run 26 miles in my 26 year of life. When I set the goal, I secretly didn’t think I could do it. I had always been overweight most of my life. I felt that running marathons was for “fit” and “strong” people. Up to that point, I had only run 6 miles with out stopping. And that was a one time thing! During my marathon training, I realized that the old saying of “you can do whatever you put your mind to” was true. I was able to complete a marathon. I wasn’t even in last place! Though a man in his 70’s beat me. It still didn’t take away from my accomplishing my goal.

I’ve done this to myself time and time again. I put limits on myself because I feel that I’m not “that good” or “that capable” or “that smart” or “that lucky” or whatever “that” I might come up with at the time.  I’ve come to realize that we are ALL “That Capable” of completing whatever goal or aspirations we have in our lives.
